George "Doobie" Bush Gee, what a novel idea. I don't know why we didn't think of this before. Rather than enforcing the law, getting tough on crime, and all that other right-wing, conservative law and order nonsense, let's just PAY criminals not to commit crimes. And, no, that's not some knee-jerk liberal garbage the ACLU came up with to (further) mollycoddle criminals, that's part of George Bush's plan for dealing with Islamic terrorism. Let me digress… Shortly after the World Trade Center debacle, "the powers that be" made a big deal over how drug production in Afghanistan was being used to finance terrorism. There were numerous documentaries showing the vast fields of opium poppies and warehouses piled to the roof with heroin; and to this day we are subjected to endless repetitions of "public service announcements" linking even casual drug use to the most heinous acts of terrorism. Which brings me to the case in point. The solution they've come up with to put an end to the drug production in Afghanistan is to PAY THEM to quit growing poppies. That's right, they propose to PAY these TERRORIST CRIMINALS to stop committing this CRIMANAL ACT. What's the deal, George? Your solution to all other terrorist activity in Afghanistan is carpet-bombing, followed by sending in the Marines to finish off anyone found stumbling through the rubble. What's the matter, run out of NAPALM? Are you afraid our troops will get a contact high from all that happy-smoke? Or, have your Saudi masters just not given you permission to put an end to the lucrative Mid-East drug trade? (Like, we didn't know!) The point is, they have so inexorably linked the drug production in Afghanistan to Islamic terrorism that there is no way they can slime out of this. Were all those news reports about drugs being used to finance terrorism LIES? Are the commercials I see on television every single day linking drug use to terrorism LIES? Who is lying, who is merely swearing to it, and what the heck had George been smoking when he came up with this wimpy liberal plan? |
